2. May 06,  · All in all, if you are a big fan of Nick Drake, and like the little extras that come included with the album, then I would definitely recommend purchasing this. If you're just looking for a copy of Nick Drake's Bryter Layter, then maybe skip on this one and wait until the album is released as a standalone, like they eventually did with Pink Moon/5().

3. Editors' Notes The poster boy for melancholic singer/songwriters, Nick Drake recorded three very different studio albums in his 26 years. Where his debut Five Leaves Left is somber and string-laden, and his swan song Pink Moon acoustic and stark, Bryter Layter is a virtual party, featuring strings, horns, and a galvanizing rhythm section on loan from Fairport Convention.

With even more of the Fairport Convention crew helping him out -- including bassist Dave Pegg and drummer Dave Mattacks along with, again, a bit of help from Richard Thompson-- as well as John Cale and a variety of others, Drake tackled another excellent selection of songs on his second album. Demonstrating the abilities shown on Five Leaves Left didn't consist of a fluke, Bryter Layter.

8. The cover of the North American version of the album Akuma no Uta by Japanese metal band Boris pays tribute to Bryter Layter. The lyrics to "Fly" were heavily referenced in the film Zathura: A Space Adventure and the song was featured in Wes Anderson's The Royal Tenenbaums.
